PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Police say a man accused in the fatal shooting of another man Saturday morning in Portsmouth has surrendered.

According to police, officers responded to Griff’s Restaurant and Sports Lounge near the 4200 block of Portsmouth Boulevard around 1:45 a.m. Saturday.

When they arrived at the scene, they found a man, later identified as 37-year-old John Robert Plummer III, with a gunshot wound.

Plummer was taken to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Police released photos of 28-year-old Anthony Arnold Schultz III, who’s accused in the shooting.

On Monday around 1:40 p.m., officials say Schultz turned himself into police custody. Schultz is charged with first-degree murder, use of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, shooting in commission of a felony, and shooting across a roadway.

Investigators previously released photos of three other people involved in the incident, however, they say those people are no longer being considered as persons of interest.

At this time police are still working to gather more details. No further information has been released.
