YORK COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) – One person is dead following a crash involving a vehicle and a bicyclist Thursday afternoon on East Rochambeau Drive near Airport Road in York County, Virginia State Police said.

The call for the incident came in at about 3:24 p.m. A spokesperson for VSP says 76-year-old Michael Everett Gleason was riding his bike on the shoulder of Rochambeau when he lost control and went into the path of a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado.

Gleason was transported to Sentara Williamsburg with serious injuries, and he later died from his injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, 23-year-old Lorenzo Antonio Rivera-Flores was not injured in the crash. Police say neither alcohol or speed were contributing factors in the crash
