YORKTOWN, Va. (WAVY) — An 18-year-old and a juvenile suspect have been arrested in connection to a recent early morning shooting at Yorktown’s fishing pier.
John Arthur Walker IV, 18, of the 200 block of Misty Point in Newport News, and a 14-year-old juvenile from Newport News have both been charged with aggravated malicious wounding, robbery and use of a firearm in commission of a felony.
Investigators arrested the juvenile on Wednesday, and Walker was taken into custody without incident on Thursday in Hampton.
The shooting happened Monday around 12:15 a.m. in the 400 block of Water Street, according to authorities.
York-Poquoson Sheriff’s investigators say a 29-year-old man from Florida was trying to purchase marijuana from the suspects when he was shot and robbed. He was taken to the hospital in stable condition and is expected to recover.
The juvenile, whose identity is being withheld due to Virginia law, is at at the Merrimac Juvenile Detention Facility in Williamsburg.
