HAMPTON. Va. (WAVY) — A Hampton woman faces more than 100 charges after officers removed 29 cats from her home on Friday.

Officers say Emily Susanne Wright, 34, failed to properly care for her cats at her home in the first block of Sweet Gum Place.

The cats were malnourished and not properly vaccinated, according to police.

Officers say all 29 cats were being taken to Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter for extensive screening to see if they are fit for adoption. The process could take up to several weeks.

Wright has been charged with 29 counts of felony cruelty to animals, 29 counts of general duties, 29 counts of failure to vaccinate for rabies and 29 counts of no city cat licenses.
