VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Seven people, including four students, were injured Monday afternoon after a three-car pileup involving a school bus.
Police, fire and medics responded to the intersection of S. Independence Blvd. and Edwin Drive, near Mount Trashmore, around 2 p.m.
Everyone on board the school bus, four students and the bus driver, were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The drivers of the two SUVs involved in the crash were also taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

As police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, a 15-year-old student on the bus says a car crashed into the rear of the bus at a red light.
“I flew forward when the car hit us,” said the student, who wished to remain anonymous. He told WAVY.com he hit his head and hurt his knee during the accident.
Jerad Hanover was working at Grand Slam Car Wash nearby when the accident happened.
“It sounded like a big explosion,” Hanover said. “The next thing we seen was a car run into the back of a bus. A couple kids went over the back of the seats.”
Lauren Nolasco, a spokesperson for the Virginia Beach City Public Schools, says the the students involved were from Virginia Beach and enrolled in the Southeastern Cooperative Educational Programs (SECEP) at Renaissance Academy.
Police have not released any further information about who is responsible and what charges, if any, will be filed.
