YORKTOWN, Va. (WAVY) — A 75-year-old Yorktown man is dead after a three-vehicle crash Monday afternoon.
The crash happened around 4:50 p.m. on Route 17, just north of Goosley Road.
Police say the man, identified as George Kemper Hicks, of the 1200 block of Dandy Loop Road, was on Route 17 in a 2007 Lexus when he attempted to turn onto Colonial Parkway, but failed yield right of way.
He was T-boned by a 2008 Chevrolet Uplander, causing his vehicle to spin and strike a 2015 Dodge Caravan that was stopped at a stop sign.
Police say all three drivers were out of their vehicles when police arrived. Hicks, the driver of the Chevrolet, and two passengers inside the Chevrolet were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
When the investigating trooper went to charge Hicks for causing the crash, the trooper learned that Hicks had died from his injuries.
Police say speed, nor alcohol were factors in the crash.
