NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Police are investigating an accident involving a light rail train in Downtown Norfolk Friday.

According to Hampton Roads Transit, the train was traveling westbound at Union Street and E. Main Street around 2:15 p.m. when the accident happened. There were no reported injuries.

A bus is being made available to take passengers between Norfolk State University and Eastern Virginia Medical Center until the train is running again.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. As of 3:35 p.m., HRT said it was restoring rail service and trains 2, 4, 5, and 7 were running on time. Stay with WAVY News 10 on air and online for updates.
