ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (WAVY) — Airbnb’s are now officially allowed in Elizabeth City, according to the city’s social media post.
The Elizabeth City’s Development Services Department has created a new ordinance to allow the previously “non-permitted” use. Before, there were no requirements in place per the Unified Development Ordinance.
To apply for the permit, owners can go through the online portal and search for “Short Term Rentals” in the search bar.
The permit application has a $250 fee, which is to be paid annually. Currently, there is a grace period until July 13, during which there will be no penalty. After that, a $200 penalty will apply.
