NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – Devin Bowles was the victim of a mid-afternoon homicide in Newport News. Five months later, police say they believe they have the man who killed him, in custody.

The investigation led detectives to 20-year-old Jamari Dalton Saunders-Lewis, of Hampton. He was arrested on July 13 and charged with first degree murder, distribution of drugs/PWI marijuana, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

The homicide investigation began on February 20 when officers were called to the 800 block of Lassiter Drive. That’s when they found Bowles, 24, shot several times. He died at the scene.
