HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Beach markers were installed just in time for Memorial Day at the beaches of Fort Monroe.
Hampton officials say the Public Works Department put up the markers to help citizens give a more accurate location in case of an emergency.
The marker signs are brown with reflective numbers on them. They’ve been placed on every fourth light pole along the boardwalk.
The first marker is at the southern end of the beaches, next to the engineer’s pier. Marker number 12 is right before the Paradise Ocean Club. Markers number 13 through 16 are on the Dog Beach boardwalk.
