With the wave of a magic wand, I have made the recent cold air disappear…he he he. I wish.

No, there was no magic involved, but the cold air is retreating to the north. Even this morning temps had warmed a little into the low-mid 30s. We have a light southerly wind developing as high pressure looms offshore.

A warm front was coming in off of the ocean and up from the south. So a couple of temps already made it to the 40s over North Carolina by 7 a.m. We’ll warm up today to near 60 degrees. We’ll have a mix of sun and clouds. Any precip should stay to our west and south during the day. It should be very nice out.

By the evening a couple of stray sprinkles or showers could move in, but I don’t expect much. Then tonight the rain will move in late. At least some scattered showers. Tomorrow, a cold front will be approaching from the west. We’ll have warm southerly winds ahead of it which will pull in a lot of moisture. Rain is likely from the morning through the early afternoon. It may be heavy in spots.

There may even be some isolated thunderstorms ahead of the front. Especially over North Carolina.  Rain should move out by the late afternoon, but some isolated showers could linger into the early evening. We could pick up about a half inch of an inch of rain. Temperatures will jump to the mid 60s tomorrow morning. Then they will drop to the 50s late in the day. It will be breezy.

First, winds will be out of the south. Then they will turn to out of the northwest behind the front. We’ll be cooler and drier Friday and Saturday. Highs will be in the 40s. Then, we’ll be in the 50s on Sunday with partly cloudy skies.

I still can’t rule out a sprinkle or flurry over the weekend, but I doubt we’ll see much. Stay tuned for updates.
