Boat comes off trailer after truck jackknifes on Coleman Bridge

GLOUCESTER, Va. (WAVY) — Traffic was delayed on the Coleman Bridge Thursday morning after a boat came off a trailer.

Virginia State Police said the incident happened on northbound side of the U.S. 17 Coleman Bridge. Troopers were called to the scene around 6:15 a.m.

A preliminary investigation found a Chevrolet pickup truck hauling a boat jackknifed while crossing the bridge, which dislodged the boat from the trailer. The incident initially closed all northbound lanes.

The incident was one of many on primary roads and highways across Hampton Roads Thursday morning. One person was killed in one of five crashes on Interstate 64 East at Settlers Landing Roads, state police said.
