VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — The woman accused of stabbing a bank teller in Virginia Beach and lunging at an officer during an incident in late-August was denied bond in a hearing Wednesday morning.
Police say Shontrina Fountain stabbed a teller Navy Federal Credit Union Aug. 24 on Providence Road. Fountain then allegedly lunged at police with a knife as they tried to arrest her.
Police used a stun gun on Fountain three times and an officer fired a gun at her, but missed.
Fountain is charged with malicious wounding and assault on an officer.

Fountain’s family says she had bleeding on the brain after hitting her head on the ground. They say she has a history with mental illness.
During an arraignment last week, Fountain asked a Judge if she could return to the Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center — where she spent 30 days back in April.
