Isle of Wight, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia State Police are investigating a deadly crash Saturday evening in Isle of Wight.

Just before 5 p.m., State Police said they responded to a crash involving two cars on Foursquare Road, north of Tings Road.

When troopers arrived, they found Tariq Holloman, 44, of Newport News. They said he died before they could get him to a hospital. The driver of the other car suffered life-threatening injuries. That driver was flown to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment.

A spokesperson for VSP said they believe Holloman was driving southbound in a Dodge Charger on Foursquares Road. It was near Tings Road when they told 10 On Your Side he crossed the double solid lines of the roadway into the northbound lanes. That’s when he hit the other driver in a Volkswagen Jetta.

Law enforcement said speed was a contributing factor in the crash. They’re still working to learn if alcohol was a factor as well.
