TRINITY, N.C. (WGHP) — A man who was charged after being found counties away with a 16-year-old girl who didn’t come home from school is facing even more charges.

According to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, Lawrence Nathaniel Chandler was charged with eight counts of felony sexual exploitation of a minor and taken into custody on Feb. 16. Chandler was brought to their attention on Feb. 10, after they received reports of a possible sex offense.

Chandler was initially arrested on Feb. 9 after Thomasville Police Department said that they got a call about after a girl who didn’t come home from school on Feb. 8.

While investigating her disappearance, detectives “uncovered information” that made them think that she was with a 53-year-old man who was an acquaintance of the family.

The girl was found, unharmed, with Chandler the next morning in Johnston County.

He was given no bond on these new charges.
