PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – A man has been sentenced to ten years in prison on Wednesday in connection with a homicide of a Portsmouth woman in June of 2022.
According to court documents, Brandon Jones was ordered on Feb. 14 to serve 10 years in prison followed by two years of supervised probation upon release for killing 23-year-old Toni Leanna Goddard on June 8, 2022.
Evidence presented in court revealed that Jones picked up Goddard in the Prentis Park section of Portsmouth, bringing her to his home.
A fight was said to have broken out between the two while at Jones’ house, resulting in Goddard throwing a porcelain stature at Jones. Goddard then picked up a pair of scissors, which Jones took, stabbing Goddard multiple times.
Court documents reveal that Jones left Goddard’s body in the area of Campostella Road and I-264 in Norfolk.
