MANASSAS, Va. (DC News Now) — The Manassas City Police Department (MCPD) has arrested a man who allegedly impersonated a police officer while trying to abduct a girl on Thursday morning.

According to MCPD, just before 8:40 a.m., police received a call from a resident who said they saw a girl in distress near the intersection of Quarry Road and Zebedee Street.

The investigation revealed that the girl was walking to school in the 9400 block of Clover Hill Road when a man, identified as 23-year-old Jesus Enrique Ramirez Cabrera of Manassas, approached her. Cabrera was driving a red Jeep SUV.

The girl told police that Cabrera identified himself as a police officer and told her to get in the car.

Cabrera then exited the car, grabbed her arm, put her in the front passenger’s seat and started driving down Clover Hill Road.

Once on Quarry Road, the girl got out of the car.

After conducting an “extensive” investigation and executing a search warrant at a residence in the 10000 block of Makelys Way, officers arrested Cabrera on the evening of Sept. 6.

Authorities charged him with abduction, robbery, impersonation of law enforcement and petit larceny. He is being held without bond at the Prince William County Adult Detention Center.

Detectives said they do not believe there are any other suspects and that there is no threat to the community.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Manassas City Police Department at 703-257-8000 or the 24/7 Crime Solvers Tip Line at 703-330-0330.
