PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – The Portsmouth Police Department (PPD) is investigating a shooting that left a male injured.
PPD said around 12:34 a.m. officers responded to a call for a shooting on Gillis Road. That’s in the Cradock Historic district, which is near Afton Parkway and Victory Boulevard.
PPD said officers found a male with a gunshot wound. He was rushed to the hospital to be treated for his injuries.
At the scene, 10 On Your Side saw police looking around a white home. There were at least 13 evidence markers on the ground near the home. Some of the markers had bullet casings next to them.
Portsmouth Fire Department also responded to the scene. Firefighters had hoses out and were monitoring the home.
Fire dispatch did not confirm the fire with 10 On Your Side.
