WILKES COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — A Jonesville man was arrested on Monday and is accused of assaulting a girl, according to the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office.
At 10:30 a.m., the WCSO served a Yadkin County warrant for felony child abuse on Adam Hal Cave, 38 of Jonesville.
Cave was arrested at East Wilkes High School. The charges, which were taken out by Jonesville Police Department, did not happen at a school.
The JPD says he was employed as a teacher at EWHS. Wilkes County Schools says he taught with the district for 15 years, and the last day of his employment was Monday.
He is accused of hitting a 6-year-old girl with a 28-inch-by-3.5-inch paddle, hitting her across the face, knocking her down and dragging her by the leg.
Cave’s wife confirmed the allegations, police say.
The investigation is ongoing.
