EDENTON, N.C. (WAVY) – The Edenton Police Department responded to someone screaming for help Thursday night.

Officers arrived to the 500 block of Virginia Road on Feb. 15 at approximately 10:12 p.m. in reference to a person screaming for help.

Officers arrived to the scene and heard the victim screaming, which led to both officers forcing their way into the house.

After an investigation, officers arrested 33-year-old Jimmy Hollis and charged him with one count of felony assault by strangulation, one count of assault on a female and one count of crime of domestic violence.

Hollis, who was already on supervised probation prior to this incident, is currently being held without bond on a 48 hour hold.

“I want to thank both officers for the quick response and making entry to help save the victim,” Chief King said.

Officials said the victim was checked out by EMS and is said to be unhurt.
