WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) — One person is dead and another is recovering after a stabbing in Winston-Salem on Tuesday, according to the Winston-Salem Police Department.

According to authorities, The incidents occurred within a 15-minute span. 

The first stabbing happened on North Liberty Street, claiming the life of 38-year-old Jamar Dewan Wiley. Investigators say the victim was involved in a verbal altercation with two people when one person stabbed him before leaving in a Chevrolet Tahoe.

Around 9:13 a.m., officers responded to another reported stabbing on North Patterson Avenue where a 26-year-old man was attacked in Bailey Park.

Investigators say the man was walking in the area when a person ran up and attacked him before driving off in a Chevrolet Tahoe, leaving the victim to be aided by bystanders.

“We were monitoring him for shock and just making sure he was cognizant of his surroundings and what was going on,” said Dee Duggan, owner of F45 Winston-Salem.

Authorities utilized Real-Time Crime Center resources and video evidence from Liberty Street and Patterson Avenue to connect the two incidents.

The Chevrolet Tahoe was found during a traffic stop, leading to the apprehension of the suspects.

Oscar Daniel Noyola-Lopez, 27, faces a number of charges, including felony murder, while Jeffrey Hugo Silva, 30, has been charged with felony assault. 

“We are so sorry to hear that someone had passed in this tragic situation, but I guess we now just feel very lucky that we were here to be able to help the person we did,” Duggan said.
