ISLE OF WIGHT COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — Two suspects in an Isle of Wight burglary on Thursday were arrested while the search for a third suspect continues, officials said.
Early Thursday morning, individuals were reportedly seen smashing the glass of the door of the Citgo on Brewers Neck Boulevard. Deputies arrived to see merchandise leading out of a smashed door. After questioning witnesses and receiving a description of the suspects’ vehicle, deputies found the vehicle at a BP station in Suffolk.
Two suspects in the car were arrested and identified as 51-year-old Saraf Eugene Taylor of Portsmouth and 25-year-old Emily Miles of Windsor.
The third suspect and driver of the vehicle fled on foot and was identified as 42-year-old Rodger Newell, III, of Suffolk.
Early this morning a passerby saw individuals smashing the glass of the door of the Citgo at 19417 Brewers Neck Blvd. When deputies arrived at the scene, they saw merchandise leading out of the smashed door. The witness gave a description of the suspects’ vehicle and after a brief search, deputies located the vehicle at a BP station at 1600 Bridge Rd. in Suffolk.
Newelle was seen in the 2500 block of Bridge Road. Deputies with the assistance of the Suffolk Police Department commenced a search of the area and set up a police perimeter. After many hours of extensive searching the search was terminated without locating Newelle.
Newelle is also wanted for, failure to appear on assault and battery charges, from a previous event. He faces multiple charges stemming from today’s incident to include: felony burglary, felony conspiracy and felony destruction of property.
He is 5’10”, around 160 lbs. with brown hair and blue eyes. Tips leading to an arrest could result in up to a $1,500 reward.
