NEWPORT NEWS, Va (WAVY) — On the night of October 27, police responded to calls from the 12700 block of Jefferson Avenue for a suspected drunk driver. Those calls said that a white vehicle nearly drove into a building.
Not far from the area, police were able to spot the vehicle driving in concerning patterns. The officers conducted a traffic stop not long after, which led to a series of charges for the driver.
Horacio Lopez-Espinoza, 37, of Newport News, was charged with two counts of concealed weapons, driving while under the influence, drinking while driving (open container), reckless driving and driving without a license.
