GREENVILLE, N.C (WNCT) — A sports management class at East Carolina University had the opportunity to go to the Men’s Final Four and National Championship college basketball games in Phoenix over the weekend.

The trip gave a select group of students the chance to be a part of the official 2024 Final Four Volunteer Program and learn new sports management skills at one of the biggest stages in sports. Dr. Stacy Warner gave her sports management students the opportunity to be in the forefront of managing, directing and evaluating all the background strategies that go into pulling off one of the biggest sporting events in the country.

When she was a graduate student herself, she worked for the NCAA’s headquarters, specifically for college hoops. So, it was only right to return the experience to her students. She said she bumped into her former colleagues throughout the weekend.

“You know being able to tell them, ‘Hey the lessons that you taught me, the mentoring that you did, look I’m now bringing these students out here and sharing that’,” she said. “And I just so appreciate the people that I worked with then and who are now colleagues now.”
