NORFOLK, Va (WAVY) — The Duty, Honor, Country – Military Cemetery Tour is put on by the Norfolk Society for Cemetery Conservation.

Tour guide Shannon Stafford will highlight military personnel who have been laid to rest in the cemetery. Hear of their stories in battle and how they came to the Hampton Roads area. Before the tour, there will be an opportunity to help lay flags on all of the veteran headstones.  

Elmwood Cemetery is a 50-acre municipal cemetery established in 1853. A mid-19th century grid design cemetery, Elmwood is filled with monuments and mausoleums that embody the Victorian era. 

The tour is Saturday, May 25 from 2 p.m.-3:30 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery. The tour is free and open to the public No reservations are required.
