VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — An exotic cat that’s about two feet tall is roaming around the Shore Drive area of Virginia Beach.
It was last spotted in the 2300 block of Shore Drive at First Landing State Park around 8:15 Wednesday morning, but Virginia Beach Animal Control couldn’t find it, only tracks.
Virginia Beach Animal Control said in a Facebook post they located the owner of the cat, which is named Rocky.
The post said Rocky has been missing from Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, since October.
Rocky is wearing a GPS tracking collar, but the batteries died about three days after he went missing. He is accustomed to being around dogs, people and children, according to the post.
Rocky will hunt small mammals and birds, and has been known to take a chicken or two.
Animal Control said there is a plan in place to set traps to catch Rocky, and his owner is coming up from the Outer Banks to help officers.
Rocky weighs about 25 pounds and is roughly 25 inches tall.
If you find Rocky, call the dispatch line for Animal Control at 757-385-5000.
