ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Peak foliage has now arrived in Virginia, says the Virginia Department of Forestry.

On Thursday, October 17, foliage spotters with the DOF reported “stunning” color changes throughout higher elevations like the Allegheny Mountains, especially in Rockingham County.

DOF says peak colors will continue to spread to more areas during the upcoming weekend, so now is a great time to gather the family and hit the Blue Ridge Parkway for some sightseeing.

Lower-lying areas are slightly behind higher elevations, with colors peeking from day to day!
