COINJOCK, N.C. (WAVY) — The major road to the Outer Banks was shut down for about two hours Saturday afternoon after a fire broke out in Coinjock.
The fire affected three sheds and shut down Highway 158 in both directions at Fullbrick Lane, just south of Currituck BBQ Company, according to Captain Larry Mangold with the Crawford Township Volunteer Fire Dept.
The call for the fire came in at 5:22 p.m.
The highway was shut down because crews had to stretch fire hoses across the roadway, and because propane and ammunition were reportedly in one of the sheds.
No one was injured and traffic is back moving after the fire was marked under control.
Officials have yet to determine the cause of the fire.
