YORK COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — Firefighters were called to the scene of a fire at a used auto parts shop in York County late Thursday morning.  

York County dispatch told WAVY.com units were called to M & J Motors off George Washington Memorial Highway (U.S. 17)  just before 11:30 a.m.

Officials with the York County Department of Fire and Life Safety said responding units found fire and heavy smoke at an accessory structure adjacent to the main building.

The structure suffered significant damage in the fire, which has since been marked under control. 

The response from fire crews closed all lanes on U.S. 17 south of Victory Boulevard. An on-ramp to U.S. 17 was closed at Byrd Lane, according to a tweet from VDOT.

According to its website, the shop specializes in parts for front wheel drive, midsize and compact vehicles.

Investigators are working to determine what may have caused the fire.
