PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Dense fog that covered parts of the region Thursday morning led to school delays and a brief travel advisory on a connecting bridge.
Multiple school districts were operating on a two-hour delay Thursday: Accomack County, Hertford County and Perquimans County. Other districts decided to open one hour late: Edenton-Chowan and Gates County.
The Virginia Department of Transportation issued a brief fog advisory for the James River Bridge during the morning commute. No lanes were closed, and VDOT cleared the advisory after less than an hour.
