NORFOLK (WAVY) – Jeff Jones has kept a pretty consistent policy throughout his coaching career. Win or lose, his team must turn the page and move on to the next game.
After watching his Old Dominion team give up an 18-point lead in a bitter 74-73 loss at Texas-San Antonio on Saturday, even Jones had to admit, the last game was a little bit harder to let go.
“After that one, it wasn’t and it shouldn’t have been that easy to turn the page,” said Jones.
But the Monarchs (16-6, 6-3 in Conference USA) didn’t have much of a choice. Tonight, they’ll face a North Texas team who sits at first place atop the conference standings. And that’s more than enough reason to put Saturday’s nightmarish finish behind them.
“We take care of business, we’ll still be tied for first,” said Ahmad Caver.
“It definitely helps that we do play the number one team, and we do have another chance to redeem ourselves against a top team, and the fact that we’re at home,” said B.J. Stith.
