GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — Four people were killed and two were injured in a crash that happened late Saturday night. The driver involved in the crash survived but was later struck and killed in a separate incident.
NC State Highway Patrol Master Trooper Rico L. Stephens said the crash happened around 11:48 p.m. on NC Hwy. 903 near NC Hwy. 102. Suhziah Spruill, 22, of Snow Hill was traveling north on NC 903 at a high rate of speed when he traveled off the road to the right and collided with a guardrail. Spruill had five unrestrained passengers in the vehicle. All five were ejected.
Three of the passengers died at the scene. Two surviving passengers were transported to ECU Health Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
After the collision, Spruill jumped into the roadway to try to stop traffic. He was struck by a Kia Forte and killed, Stephens said. The driver of the Kia Forte, who was not identified, will not be charged.
The three who were killed in the crash were:
- Nykwon Coppedge of Snow Hill, 22
- Zykhia Connor of Grifton, 18
- Amoni Spruill of Farmville, 20
The two injured in the crash were:
- Chasity Kittrell of Snow Hill, 20
- Aliana Spruill of Snow Hill, 21
Officials continued the investigation into the crash into Sunday afternoon.
