SUFFOLK, Va.(WAVY) — A home that is used for a local Suffolk church’s Food Bank was damaged in an early-morning fire, officials say.

City of Suffolk officials said in a news release firefighters were called to a fire at a house in the 600 block of Mulberry Street just before 6 a.m. 

Officials said responding units found heavy fire showing from an exterior utility room on the side of the house.

The home is used for storage for the East End Baptist Church Food Bank.

There was moderate smoke damage to the back of the home, but officials said the area where food donations are stored was not impacted.

No injuries were reported.

Officials said the fire was under control in around 30 minutes. The Fire Marshal has ruled the fired undetermined, but not suspicious.
