NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Bob Baxter walked out to his driveway Sunday morning and didn’t expect to see an empty space where he knew he parked his BMW.
“I looked out, I thought Glenda was pulling my leg. I looked around and came outside and it still wasn’t here, there was no glass or anything around,” said Baxter.
He says he went back inside to ask his wife if she moved it.
“I said what do you mean the car’s not there,” said Glenda Warner.
The two filed a police report with Norfolk police and learned another neighbor down the road had theirs stolen too.
“The officer thought they might be related,” said Baxter.
They say both their car and their neighbors were push to start cars.
Just a quarter mile away, 10 On Your Side also learned there were multiple cars broken into at The Lafayette Apartments. Multiple vehicle break-ins were also reported at The Element at Ghent Apartments at E. 18th Street and Monticello Avenue.
Several neighbors posted about the break-ins on the Nextdoor app Both Bob and Glenda posted about what happened to them on the app as well.
Then the couple got some news on Tuesday — their stolen car had been found.

“Somebody’s shoes are in it,” said Baxter.
The couple says a shoe and lighter were found in the car that they say belong to the thieves.
But those aren’t the only things the thieves left, Baxter says he was thankful they didn’t steal the exhibits he brings with him when volunteering at a state park.
