PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Kroger says it has opened pharmacies at eight former Farm Fresh locations.
The company said in an update Thursday that 42 people who previously worked at Farm Fresh as pharmacists and pharmacy technicians have been hired. Another 415 Farm Fresh employees were offered positions.
Kroger included a list of the eight stores in the update:
- 1401 North Main Street, Suffolk
- 2190 Coliseum Drive, Hampton
- 309 South Battlefield Boulevard, Chesapeake
- 6500-C George Washington Memorial Highway, Grafton (York County)
- 1464 Mt. Pleasant Road, Chesapeake
- 1282 Smithfield Plaza, Smithfield
- 230 East Little Creek Road, Norfolk
- 7254 George Washington Highway, Hayes (Gloucester County)
Hours for the newly opened pharmacies will be: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Allison McGee, corporate affairs manager with Kroger Mid-Atlantic, said Thursday, “We are in the process of building walls to separate the pharmacies from the construction and we greatly appreciate the patience of the community during this process.”
Thursday’s update comes nearly two months after it was announced that Supervalu Inc., which owns Farm Fresh, sold 21 of its 38 stores for $43 million.

Several job fairs for affected Farm Fresh employees have been held in the aftermath of the purchase. Kroger and Food Lion have both host fairs, while a store director for Farm Fresh organized an event to help workers at Farm Fresh and Toys ‘R’ Us.
