SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Two people were airlifted after a crash involving a tractor-trailer on Wednesday in Suffolk.

Suffolk police say it happened around 4:35 p.m. on westbound Route 58, just west of exit 189.

The crash involved the tractor-trailer and one other vehicle. Both the driver and passenger of that other vehicle were both airlifted to the hospital via helicopter with life-threatening injuries. The tractor-trailer driver meanwhile was uninjured.

A viewer photo from the scene showed a silver vehicle with major damage near the tree line on the side of the road.

Police say the crash remains under investigation and the road has reopened to traffic.
