SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Six people were injured in three separate crashes in different parts of Suffolk Wednesday.

Two people suffered serious injuries following a two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon on Godwin Boulevard in Suffolk, Suffolk Fire & Rescue said.

The crash happened at an intersection in the 2900 block of Godwin Boulevard near a Burger King and a car wash.

Two people were taken to an area hospital with serious injuries. Sentara Obici Hospital is about a half-mile away from the crash scene.

Photos from the scene show a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck that appeared to crash into a light pole at the intersection, while another vehicle also sustained damage, mostly to the front end of the vehicle as its front end went into a ditch in front of the Burger King. The same photos showed debris scattered in a crosswalk at the intersection.

Suffolk Police and Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to the crash.

Godwin Boulevard is a heavily traveled corridor in Suffolk, with nearly 22,000 vehicles traveling on it daily from King’s Fork Road to the U.S. Route 58 Bypass, according to 2022 data from the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Another crash took place Wednesday evening around 5:40 p.m. on U.S. Route 58 where Holland Road enters 58, while yet another crash took place in the area of North Main Street and East Constance Street downtown.

In the crash on Route 58, photos show a single vehicle off the left-hand side of the road with significant damage to the rear of the vehicle.

In the crash on North Main Street, which took place just before 9 p.m., two vehicles sustained damage, primarily to the passenger sides of each. A gray vehicle faces the visitor’s center while the blue vehicle was facing toward the center of the intersection.

Four people from the two evening crashes were taken to an area hospital with minor to moderate injuries, Suffolk Fire & Rescue said. It is unclear whether the four injuries were from one of the evening crashes or from both of them.
