Ammunition round found in Suffolk neighborhood prompts evacuation

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — The discovery of a live ammunition round prompted the evacuation of nearby residences in the Magnolia Lakes neighborhood off of Nansemond Parkway in Suffolk Thursday.

At approximately 3:40 p.m., Suffolk Fire & Rescue and Suffolk Police received a report of an unexploded ordnance found in the neighborhood.


Upon arrival in the 1100 block of Nansemond Parkway, Suffolk Police and Suffolk Fire & Rescue confirmed the discovery of the unexploded ammunition round.

The Virginia State Police Bomb Squad arrived at the scene and took possession of the item to further investigate. The all-clear was given at around 4:25 p.m.

No one was injured in the incident.
