RICHMOND, Va. (WAVY) — A teenage suspect wanted in connection to a homicide in Middlesex County has turned himself in, authorities say.

A spokesperson with the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to 10 On Your Side 16-year-old Tariq Joel Beane surrendered to a U.S. Marshals task force in Richmond Tuesday night.

Beane is faced with charges of first-degree murder, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and brandishing a firearm in the March 23 killing of 18-year-old Elijah Baker.

Beane is one of five suspects charged in connection to Baker’s murder. 

The sheriff’s office said 18-year-old Kemonte Smith has been also been charged with first-degree murder. Three other juvenile suspects who have not been identified were charged with first-degree murder by mob.

Smith is being held at the Middle Peninsula Regional Jail, while the three juveniles are at Merrimac Juvenile Detention Center.
