We’ll warm back up again on Sunday to around 71 degrees with partly to mostly cloudy skies. Enjoy the warmth today, because changes are ahead.
A cold front swings through the area Sunday night. As a result, temperatures will fall a bit as we head into the work week. An isolated shower is possible overnight into Monday morning. The best chances for this will be in NE NC and the Outer Banks around sunrise Monday.
Highs in the mid to upper 50s (near 60 inland) are expected Monday. Tuesday’s highs just a few degrees cooler than that: around 53 to 56. We willl start Tuesday morning quite cool – with mid to upper 30s at the coast and temps near freezing inland towards Franklin, Surry and perhaps even Suffolk.
By Wednesday, we should climb back to 63, with temperatures for the rest of the week in the upper mid to upper 50s at the coast once again with a NE to E wind returning to the region. Inland towards Chesapeake, Suffolk and Franklin, temperatures will be in the low 60s. Same for much of NE NC with the exception of the OBX.
While much of the week will be dry, another rain chance returns to the area late in the week, with showers by late Friday afternoon into Saturday. There is some model disagreement on the exact timing of the heaviest rain, so some changes to the forecast are possible.
Hope you have a great weekend!
