ISLE OF WIGHT COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — A runaway juvenile was sniffed out and found thanks to the help of a bloodhound in Isle of Wight.

The dynamic duo Deputy First Class Peed and K9 Mack were called on Feb. 19 for the report of a child who ran away. Peed and Mac are part of the bloodhound team for the sheriff’s office. They arrived on scene and began tracking within 22 minutes of the call.

Peed and Mack found the child and were able to establish trust. Once returned to their residence, the child was giving Mack treats and playing with the bloodhound.

Certified bloodhound teams in Virginia are quickly disappearing.

After Peed and Mack cleared from their successful search, the deputy rewarded Mack with a Pupcup!
