PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — A first-degree murder charge was dismissed in Portsmouth homicide case for D’Juan Jones on Thursday, according to online court records. However, three other charges are still moving forward, according to the Portsmouth Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney.

Jones was one of two defendants charged in connection to a triple shooting outside the Portsmouth Sportsplex on Feb. 1, 2022. The incident resulted in the death of a 17-year-old, and injured two others, including a 15-year-old boy. The first-degree murder trial went to a jury on Tuesday and continued through Thursday. The first-degree murder charge was marked dismissed on the court’s website. However, three other charges are moving forward, a spokesperson for the Portsmouth Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office confirmed.

The reason for the dismissal was not released.

The other co-defendant, Cedric Davis, has his trial set for Oct. 8.
