CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — The Chesapeake Fire Department responded to the scene of a fire that displaced residents in the MacDonald Manor Apartments on Sunday, April 14.
The call came in around 6:10 p.m. after residents reported a fire in a second floor apartment. The fire was under control around 6:15 p.m.
Residents were all safely evacuated. Seven apartments were damaged, one by fire and the others by smoke, water or a combination of both. Six adults and 11 children are being assisted by the Red Cross.
Fire investigators have ruled the fire accidental, caused by an electrical failure in the kitchen of a second floor apartment.
