1 dead after motorcycle crash in Virginia Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A person is dead after a motorcycle crash in Virginia Beach, according Virginia State Police.

It happened around 2:45 a.m. Saturday in the eastbound lane of I-64 near exit 286.


An investigation revealed a 2021 Kawasaki ZX636K was driving eastbound on I-64 when it ran into the back of a 2019 Alfa Romero. The crash caused the driver of the motorcycle, 25-year-old Samuel R. Stoy, to be thrown from the vehicle.

Shortly afterwards, Stoy was struck by a 2024 Nissan Kicks. Stoy, who was wearing a helmet, died at the scene.

Police said speed is being investigated as a cause of the crash.
