CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — The Greenbrier Mall was evacuated on Saturday, March 16, while fire crews investigated an overheating HVAC unit, Chesapeake Fire Department said.
The call came in around 4:30 p.m. The smell of smoke had spread throughout the mall, and those inside evacuated to be on the safe side. Firefighters were able to access the building, and they are working to repair the issue.
The mall is expected to reopen soon following the incident.
