CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — The Chesapeake Fire Department is hosting a recruiting event this month in an effort to increase firefighters and paramedics in the city.
On Saturday, Jan. 20, job seekers can head to Fire Station 10 in Bowers Hill, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Crews will offer station tours, equipment demonstration, the CPAT course and answers to potential questions about the application process.
Officials will accept applications for the following positions:
- Firefighter/EMT Trainee No Certifications Required
- Starting Salary – $50,150/year
- Salary after academy and TEMS release – $54,000/year
- Virginia EMT Intermediate or Paramedic
- Starting Salary – $52,689/year
- Salary after academy and TEMS release – $54,000 (plus $5,000/year stipend)
