CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — A man detained in connection to a Sunday morning homicide in Chesapeake has been charged with murder, police say.

Officers responded to Bernies Court South around 1:50 a.m. for an injured person. Upon arrival, they found a man who had been shot in a home. He died at the scene.

A second man who had also been shot was taken to the hospital, according to police.

A third man involved, 25-year-old Tevin Smith, fled the home on foot, but was later located and taken into custody. 

Police said Monday Smith was charged with first-degree murder, aggravated malicious wounding and two counts use of a firearm in a felony.

Officers learned this incident was domestic-related and the relationship between all three men is still being investigated, police said.
