PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Though few specifics are available, Dominion Energy said they are prepping to offer assistance in light of outages expected to be caused by Hurricane Milton.

The now-Category 4 hurricane is barreling toward Tampa, Florida. The storm is just barely down from its previous Category 4 rating and expected to bring devastating storm surges to the western coast of Florida. This hurricane comes soon after Hurricane Helene caused catastrophic damage through much of the south east.

“We’re currently engaged in heavy restoration efforts in South Carolina from Hurricane Helene,” Dominion Energy states. “Our work in South Carolina is expected to continue through mid-week, as Helene’s reach inland snapped thousands of trees and brought down miles of utility poles and lines.”

There’s more than 4,000 Dominion Energy employees and out-of-state crew helping in these areas since Hurricane Helene, restoring power to more than 440,000 customers.
