GLOUCESTER, Va. (WAVY) — A man who was wanted on several felony charges was arrested on Friday after a barricade situation in Gloucester County.

The Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office says Allen Leroy Dowell Jr. was taken into custody after hours of negotiations. Authorities responded to his home on Salem Church Road in the early morning hours on Friday to execute a search warrant and serve Dowell arrest warrants for charges of obstruction of justice and threats of death or bodily injury to a person.

Authorities say the charges stem from recent social media posts made by Dowell against law enforcement in the wake of the arrest of one of Dowell’s family members.

During the incident a police drone was forced down and there was a brief structure fire, but no injuries were reported.

The sheriff’s office says they requested assistance from the ATF and FBI in the case.
