GLOUCESTER COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — Four men were found not guilty of carrying a gun in a school zone in Gloucester County back in July 2023. One was found guilty of carrying a concealed weapon.
Trevor Herrin was at the Gloucester County School Board meeting on July 11, 2023, to discuss his tire being slashed, Herrin said. However, a deputy in attendance said he observed a the “grip of a pistol” as Herrin exited the podium.
After speaking, Herrin and four others left the building and were met with the initial deputy and additional officers. Upon investigation, the deputy said that four out of the five men were found to be possessing a gun on school grounds and charged accordingly. The other three were identified as Derek Coblentz, Christopher Cordasco and Antonio Hernandez. Herrin was given an additional charge of unlawful possession of a concealed weapon.
In previous WAVY coverage, Herrin told 10 On Your Side’s Lauryn Moss that he didn’t know it was a gun-free zone and that there weren’t any signs. Meanwhile, the sheriff’s office said that there were school zone lights on the road in front, a Gloucester County Public Schools logo on a sign and other indicators.
All four were found not guilty on possessing a gun in a school. Herrin was found guilty on unlawful concealment of a weapon and sentenced to 30 days.
